Topic: crawling

I was reading an article and it talked about crawling and how to work that. What do you suggest as ways to optimize how search engines interact with your page?

Re: crawling

Well, having your site target a specific keyword and then using that keyword in the title, meta tags, header, and throughout the content is one thing that will help. I am not too certain on what else you can do to the site itself but maybe one of the techies on the forum would be kind enough to step in and give us some pointers.

Re: crawling

I think that tags are fairly important to this process. I'm not sure about other techniques, but I'd be interested in hearing from others on the forum as well.  I'm hoping to boost traffic to my blog and any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Re: crawling

title tags and descriptions are good to keep unique and informative, they are the listings and descriptions you'll see when viewing search engine results after you look for something

you want them to match what your users are looking for, as well as their intent to buy or seek information!

Good idea to run the free xml sitemap over your website (google free xml sitemap) and then upload it, register with webmaster tools and then submit your sitemap! that will help you get indexed and get your pages indexed more.

There is no simple way to boosting traffic, you have to do a number of things to optimise a site, but the number of links pointing to a website for specific terms will heavily determine your placements in search engines, and thus higher placements (closer to page one) the more likely you will get more traffic.

Contact other website owners that are relative to your industry and ask them to link to you, they might ask that you link to them back, perfectly reasonable smile

If you dont ask you dont get!
