Topic: VPS and dedicated server infomation?

Hi NuBlue,

I was wondering If I were to go with VPS hosting and at a later date decided that I wanted to move to a dedicated server, what are the costs involved in this. Would I have to start from scratch, building the dedicated server, or is it fairly straightforward? Thank you

Hi,

Moving to a Dedicated server is the same process as moving to any other package.  The only caveat is that there would be a lead time for assembling the server before you could migrate on to it, and you would also be bound to a 12-month contract (it would become a rolling monthly contract after this period).

Any hosting related fees (so domain registrations, ssl certificates do not count) would still be credited if neccessary on a pro-rata basis so that will only have paid for your previous hosting up until the point you start using your current hosting (so if you have just paid a 30 day invoice for a VPS and move to a Dedicated after 5 days, we will credit back 25 days worth of the VPS hosting for you).

We would also handle the migration for you, out of hours with full advance notice, the same as we would with moving to a VPS.  So all you'd need to do is wait for us to let you know the server is ready and the billing is good to go, pay the initial dedicated server invoice - so you'd have very little to do at all!
